Feed to Meat
Consumer attitude and behavior towards food is rapidly changing on a worldwide scale. There is a strong focus on health issues including healthier food. The demand for convenience food products, in smaller ready-to-eat portions, is on the rise. Consequently, the importance of delivering fresh and safe meat products with an extended shelf life is increasing. Packaging is becoming more important in the selling process; fresh foods should be conveniently packaged and easy to store.
Animal production and processing is facing a difficult time. After mad cow, classical swine and avian influenza, consumers are sceptical and want guarantees about the meats they eat. Meat safety can only be guaranteed if every step in the meat production chain is carefully monitored and controlled.
To stay current with these developments, today´s meat business is about improving:
Meat producing and – (further) processing companies adapt and impove their production processes to meet the demands. International food quality institutions developed standards for quality assurance and secured traceability. The trend is towards systems that cover the entire food chain from primary production to finished products: from feed to meat. And that´s where VIV comes in.
VIV and meat safety
VIV Asia fulfills the role of the region's platform on animal production and meat processing. It showcases the industry's trends and technologies by the Feed to Meat concept. Feed to Meat joins supply and demand of the complete animal protein chain, based on the fact that animal feed and animal health are vital to guarantee meat quality and safety. VIV Asia 2009 will represent all parts of the meat production process. At the jointly-held VIV Asia Conference, seminars and workshops on related topics will be featured.

Aqua VIV Asia 2009: The Aquaculture event in the Asia-Pacific
In 2007 we set up the Aqua Walk and initiated the Aqua Forum during VIV Asia 2007. This was a result from visitors´ wishes to integrate Aquaculture and every aspect involved in the VIV shows. These 2 new initiatives were very successfull! More than 100 exhibitors participated in the Aqua Walk, a dedicated tour through the exhibition highlighting aquaculture solutions to visitors. The Aqua Forum featured 10 key-note presentations from key players in the Global Aquaculture industry.
In 2009 we will launch the first dedicated Aqua event within the VIV portfolio, Aqua VIV Asia 2009, which runs alongside VIV Asia.

VIV Asia 2009 Conference
For already the third time, the VIV Asia Conference will be organised. An increasing number of branch organisations, key decision makers in our sector, companies and policy makers join this platform of knowledge transfer. The Rabobank, as knowledge partner worldwide of VIV, will start the programme with the opening conference.
In 2007, the VIV Asia Conference attracted 2700 visitors and for 2009 we expect the same high quality level of visitors and approximately the same number of visitors. This is the reason why we continue this successful concept, which is based on effective cooperation of the VIV organisation, exhibitors, visitors, well organised platforms and representative organisations in our branch.
Again we offer exhibitors of VIV Asia 2009 the possibility to show their knowledge in special seminar sessions. Participating in the VIV Asia 2009 Conference can be a valuable addition to the marketing programme of your company during VIV Asia 2009.
You can apply for a conference slot by filling in the fax reply form. In order to make your choice for a time slot you can go to the (tentative) conference programme (see download below). The time allocated to commercial companies, branch organisations or scientists for presentations is one hour (questions included).
We supply you with the conference room and presentation facilities, for which 1000 Euro per hour will be charged. Any translation/interpreting facilities, if applicable, are for your own account.
Subjects for presentations can deal with one of the 11 items in the Supply Chain of animal protein:

The VIV Asia organisation is responsible for coordinating the subjects/topics for the lectures in cooperation with all those involved. Only product presentations are not allowed (or limited); presentations must have educational value. The exact title of the lecture is up to you. The name of the company and/or product names are not allowed in the title of the presentation. Of course the company name and the speakers name will be mentioned in the conference programme.
We strongly advise you to send special invitations to your potential customers or other business contacts well in advance. Pre-registered visitors can register also in advance for VIV Asia and for your specific seminar sessions. We will send you the online pre-registered visitors (who gave permission for approach) of your session 10 days before the start of the conference, so that you can carry out the appropriate matchmaking with your customers.
The seminar program will be published for our potential visitors and exhibitors. Our experience is that these matchmaking activities are crucial for the success of your presentation. Depending on your matchmaking activities, 5 to 40% of the pre-registered seminar visitors will actually visit your presentation.
