Livestock perpetuates crucial component to global food supply. Hence the resultant sustainability of integrated nutrition is juxtaposed with animal feeds. Livestock products account for about 30 percent of the global value of agriculture and 19 percent of the value of food production, and provide 34 percent of protein and 16 percent of the energy consumed in human diets. Sequel to consumer demand for more meat, milk, eggs and other livestock products, the throughput extent on the availability of regular supplies of appropriate, cost-effective and safe animal feeds is a world-wide concern. Crucial issues on 'green globalized economy' midst disparities of wealth and health have generated much public concern in recent times, converging to the protein supply in feeds for livestock production. In the epoch of ruminogenic greenhouse gases, feed safety concerns, genetically modified crops and commercial tariffs, focused attention needs to be attenuated on the sources of feed and their suitability, quality and safety for future supply for the market assurances about food & nutritional security and production methods throughout the integrated food chain.
