Ag Media Summit, Tampa, July 28, 2008 – Presented at this year´s Agricultural Media Summit is the world´s largest farm equipment show: Agritechnica 2009. Located in Hanover, Germany this exhibition attracts 2,200 exhibitors and 340,000 specialist visitors from all over the world to a 3.2 million square feet site. The equipment and technology highlighted at this global event reflects the increasing importance of farming efficiency for supplying the world with food and renewable energy output as well as climate protection.

Agritechnica is in just the right location for promoting American agricultural engineering across the world. It´s sited in the center of Europe and attracts 50% of its specialized visitors – farmers, agricultural contractors, farm equipment dealers, machinery advisors – from that region, a continent that last year imported 1.9 billion* dollars´ worth of farm equipment made in the USA. It´s an expanding market too: in the last five years sales of US farm equipment in Europe have increased by 87%!

Agritechnica is also “next door” to some of the world´s biggest markets for large-scale farming equipment, rapidly expanding agricultural regions such as those in Russia and the Ukraine. Last year these two countries bought US$ 385 million and US$ 241 m of US-made farm equipment, representing annual increases of over 120% in both cases. At the last Agritechnica, visitors from Russian and Ukraine represented over 3,000.

“These are only a few examples,” emphasizes Agritechnica´s project manager Tobias Eichberg. “Over decades the attraction of Agritechnica has proved to be worldwide. “Manufacturers recognize the event as the top international launch pad for significant new developments. Farmers and others in the agricultural sector see it as an unbeatable opportunity to learn about the latest technology. There are a growing number of major innovations introduced at each event, many of them from the world´s major manufacturers.

“English is the main language at Agritechnica and some 3,200 visitors at the last event were from North America, mainly from large-scale farming businesses, farm equipment dealerships, ag coops and agricultural contractors,” reports Annette Reichhold, Marketing Manager of Agritechnica. “Next year, we also expect huge interest in our focus areas of bioenergy and a host of solutions for climate change issues that are being developed right now.”
