From 14 to 17 November 2006 in Hanover will take place the leading exhibition for professional agricultural livestock management.
The next EuroTier, the leading European exhibition for professional agricultural livestock management, will be held in Hanover from 14 to 17 November 2006. With dispatch of the stand application papers to exhibitors, the DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft – German Agricultural Society) as organiser has now fired the starting shot. At the last event in 2004 over 110,000 visitors, of whom almost every fourth came from outside Germany, and more than 1,400 exhibitors from 42 countries represented an outstanding result.
The structural change in Europe''s agriculture is advancing unchecked. The number of livestock farms is declining continuously, but as the size of the remaining farms increases, the total number of animals remains roughly the same. Pig stocks in Germany have even increased substantially in 2005 by comparison with last year - by as much as 4.5%. Managers and herdsmen on the growing farms need modern and professional concepts in order to manage their herds and stocks successfully. Alongside questions of feeding and keeping, managements and logistics aspects are now coming more to the fore. EuroTier 2006 with its excellent information programme will provide farms with orientation for future investments.
Thanks to the sustained positive developments in livestock management in Central and Eastern Europe, the coming EuroTier will more than ever before be the focus of attraction for European livestock managers. At EuroTier 2004 the largest contingents from abroad, after the Netherlands and Austria, came from Poland and Russia. The adaptation of agriculture in the new EU Member States and in Russia as well as in Ukraine has only just begun, so that there is still a high requirement for information and investment. The DLG will continue to reinforce its activities in these countries and thus lay the foundation for building up and consolidating successful business relations in these regions.
Innovations as a magnetic draw
At every EuroTier innovations and outstanding further developments are presented with Gold and Silver Medals. An impartial, international commission of experts assesses your submissions and awards the medals. The image effect of these highly desired awards is enormous.
Unique technical programme
The technical programme of the exhibitors will be supplemented by an attractive programme of side events and exhibition priority areas with information, discussion forums and international conferences on current issues relating to professional livestock production and management.
Future topic "Bioenergy" in focus
Bioenergy is currently one of the future thematic areas in the political and business landscape and in many areas has so far been closely linked to professional livestock production and management. Many livestock farmers in Germany who have already shown strong entrepreneurship in production in recent years have invested in the bioenergy sector and use the synergy with the slurry generated to produce biogas and heat for their animal housing. EuroTier 2006 will cater to the vast need for information on all aspects of the subject of bioenergy and its underlying chances for farming in a separate section with a comprehensive range of news, data and knowledge.
New: "Feed" Special
One special thematic area of the exhibition will be feed. Feed is the most important farm input for livestock farmers, and as the largest cost unit it is one of the keys to farming success. Together with the exhibitors, the DLG will set up a "Feed" Special that will look at all aspects concerning feed, from the silo to the trough. Potential solutions will be shown here that contribute to sound individual components reaching the animal as high quality feed via milling, mixing and feeding. This Special picks up on an extremely topical area that is the focus of attention on farms every day. The "Feed" Special will be an information roadmap for all livestock farmers.
The DLG as technically competent organiser is supported by a large number of international organisations such as the European Dairy Farmers and the European Pig Producers.
EuroTier Specials with technical focus
Besides the full exhibitor range, another draw at EuroTier 2004 were the EuroTier Specials with their technical focus. The 2004-Specials, which presented current species-specific issues together with exhibitors, looked at the latest trends, with plenty of material for discussion. A particularly interesting aspect of the Specials for farmers was the demonstration of how to link exhibits by different exhibitors, together with further exploration of the topic for that particular forum.
Creating competitive units and securing a high quality level
Professional, business-minded livestock farmers are accepting the challenges posed by the new, large Europe. This was revealed by the current DLG trend monitor for livestock management published in Autumn 2004. The EU farmers want to improve their future viability by consistently creating competitive units, by cost reductions, and by securing high quality and a high yield level. As the DLG Trendmonitor further shows, modern technologies and efficient farm inputs are crucially important to farmers in many European countries for the further development of their farms. They are looking for solutions that support livestock farmers in tackling central issues such as the right genetics and feeding, housing construction, animal housing installations, quality assurance, animal welfare and environmental protection, as well as animal health.
Up to the time of EuroTier 2006 the Pig-keeping Regulation will have been implemented in Germany too. Pig farmers will then once again have a reliable framework and be able to plan for the future. Dairy farmers and beef cattle fatteners will also have passed through a cycle of the new premium system by then. They will then be able to calculate reliably what payments they can expect and at what level the market prices for milk and quotas will settle after uncoupling. Accordingly in autumn 2006 farmers will show a high demand for information. They will know what to expect and will have to adapt to the new framework conditions and develop their farms further in this light. Readiness to invest should increase substantially.

Further growth expected in pig and cattle sector
EuroTier 2006 will once again be the platform for supply and demand in the international livestock production branch. It will show the complete international programme for pig farmers, as well as for dairy and beef farmers in even more detail than before. Cattle breeding will once again be one of the focal attractions in 2006. With the Top Tier Treff, developed further together with the breeding organisations, EuroTier has the most effective instrument for information on and presentation of top genetics in cattle breeding for the national and international market. The cross-species farm inputs and capital investments have a crucial influence on the profitability of production and food safety. At no other comparable exhibition is this thematic area highlighted more strongly than at EuroTier 2006.
The "Aquaculture" sector has also established itself at EuroTier. The high satisfaction expressed by exhibitors and continued growing demand for fish, fish products and their technologies will be reflected in an even larger exhibition programme in 2006.
No "World Poultry Show" in 2006
The new concept of the "World Poultry Show” under the EuroTier umbrella as the world''s leading platform for the international poultry branch was implemented very successfully together with exhibitors and visitors in 2004. Following the wish of many exhibitors regarding the international exhibition structure in Europe, the next "World Poultry Show“ under the EuroTier umbrella will be held in 2008. Accordingly there will be no special poultry section within the context of EuroTier 2006.
