Alltech 25th International Animal Health and Nutrition Symposium. May 17-20, 2009
Lexington, Kentucky, USA.
Securing long term profitability in a period of crisis.
Our jobs are in crisis as unemployment reaches unprecedented levels. Our economies struggle as banks are collapsing around us. Our industry faces crisis with dioxin and melamine contamination. What can be done to confront these daunting challenges?
Are there ways we can turn these challenges into opportunities? What is our industry doing about traceability, sustainability, feed costs and the other potential issues affecting our bottom line and indeed our livelihoods?
To take charge of its own destiny our industry must build on six pillars. We must support education, we must feed the pipeline with innovative and ambitious animal scientists and nutritionists, we must understand and establish crisis management systems to deal with the next crisis, we need real innovation to create the next frontier of products.
We must differentiate our organizations and brand, brand, brand. We have to have a cause, and know we are making a difference. And we must enjoy what we do, do it with integrity and have fun in the process.
That is what the 2009 Alltech Symposium is about. It’s about building the pillars of sustainability; it’s a forum for sharing ideas, for learning from experts from around the world, and sharing our expertise, and it’s about working towards a sustainable future for our businesses and for agriculture.
