There are many factors that go into the design of a tunnel shed. In general many people are finding that a 50' - 60' wide shed approximately 600' long the most economical.

Respeted Mike Czarick In commercial layer cage houses, during tunnel ventilation the air velocity is very high in corridors at front and back of the cages but it is very low inside cages where birds are present. During summer birds are not comfortable as due to very low air velocity there is very low "WIHD CHILL EFFECT". What is the method to get required air velocity inside cages to get maximum wind chill. Dr. Munawar: The air velocity in the cages will always tend to be low in a tunnel ventilated house. How much air velocity will be in the cages depends on cage design, aisle width, and aisle air velocity. You want to have a cage with open sides, fronts, top and bottom. You also want to have wide aisles at least 1.2 meters. Typically to get an acceptable level of air velocity in the cages you need to have an aisle velocity of at least 3 m/sec..ideally 3.5.

Hello Dr Czarick , hello Dr Fairchild Thank you for your information . There are very important. In other hand please help me with some information. We are living in Romania . Here , the winter are very cold ( sometimes we have -24 degrees celsius and wild wind ) and in summer are verry hot (+45 degrees celsius). Usualy we use in poultry houses for heating G12 from Asco and for cooling we use cooling pads We start now to use heating with hot water and heating in floor (both in same house ) Can you help me to set up the minimum ventilation for hot water heating in poultry houses ? What is the best temperature for water from floor (ofcourse , depending of the age of the birds) Can you recomand some materials for study ( books or articles ) about water heating and minimum ventilation in broiler farms Thank you.
