Very interesting article about Energy Efficiency Associated with Poultry House Lighting. But we propose a simple and cost effective solution.
We as Ventec Ventilation, Canada, have a solution for saving lot of money during day hours.
Instead of solid walls, our system is composed of an insulated transparent curtain which is inflated leaving a 6 inches chamber of air. It lets the sunlight go into for a good heat source inside the barn.
They are automatic, controled by thermostats and relative humidity controls. They order the curtain to open or close depending on the desired conditions of temperature and RH, and let a good air renovation for taking out excess of heat and humidity, and removing ammonia and odors.
Our G3 Polymat automatic curtains, are installed with a bird net inside, which acts as a barrier.
Since it's very effective for controling air renovation, and insulated for cold climates, they are the ideal solution for aviculture, cow barns and other living stock barns... and in relation to the electric lighting expenses, they are the best for saving lot of money taking advantage of solar radiation. And its total cost is much less than solid walls.
