The 2022 Shell Egg Academy-Virtual Edition from Purdue University Extension is open for registration - Image 1
Join us virtually the week of August 15, 2022 for the Shell Egg Academy (SEA), which will provide interactive class sessions on egg quality and food safety for farmers and egg companies producing and processing table eggs. Sessions will be held on Zoom.
Virtual SEA will provide online learning from experts around the U.S. with the focus on egg quality information and an interactive experience that is useful for employees who work in egg barns and processing plants – consider this a “Eggs 101” educational approach with the ease of joining from your computers.
NEW this year, SEA will offer its course live in both English and Spanish versions; participants may select which language they prefer.
Virtual SEA is divided into two courses:
• Live Hen Production (12:00-2:30 pm Eastern time on August 15-17)
• Egg Processing and Food Safety (12:00-2:30 pm Eastern time August 17-19)
Participants may select either course or both courses. Each day's session will run for 2.5 hours so employees are still available for their work the rest of the day.
Along with expert lecturers from both academia and the egg industry, virtual SEA will also engage participants through a Lab-In-A-Box (LAB). The LAB will involve materials needed for hands-on activities over the courses. All participants will need access to shell eggs during the courses.
All participants will receive the LAB box with course materials prior to the start of the academy.
