Natural Pigment Technology May Be Vital Alternative Due to Tight Synthetic Supply. Novus International’s COLORTEK® Yellow Delivers Quality Pigmentation Through Natural Ingredients.
ST. LOUIS (December 13, 2017) – A new natural carotenoid product may be the only option for some egg and poultry producers facing a tight supply of synthetic pigments. Demand for COLORTEK® Yellow feed additive, a natural alternative to apo-ester, produced by Novus International, Inc. for use in egg and broiler chicken skin coloring, is increasing as the poultry industry adapts to face a shortage of synthetic pigments and decides to replace synthetic ingredients in poultry diets to suit consumer preferences. The COLORTEK Yellow product team at Novus makes it clear they are ready to fill the gap and help provide product to those facing unfilled orders.
“We developed this product to deliver consistent, uniform coloration to egg yolks and broiler skin while helping to reduce cost and maintain performance compared to synthetic sources,” said Abishek Shingote, the global product development manager of feed quality and pigments at Novus. “Our customers are pleased to receive continuity in supply of COLORTEK Yellow to maintain stability and high performance in their products.”
COLORTEK Yellow is a unique natural source of yellow carotenoids produced with a new patented technology that utilizes xanthophylls, extracted from marigold flowers, to deliver desired pigmentation. This technology provides product stability and performance consistent to synthetic applications, improving beyond any previous natural carotenoids on the market with highest concentration of pigment (100mg xanthophylls/kg).
“For those already incorporating our highly bioavailable products in other areas of the diet,” said Shingote, “COLORTEK Yellow falls right into the line-up with unwavering easy absorption in the animal and a stable shelf life to match.”
