One of the ways to keep up with latest technology, innovations and information in the livestock industry is to attend conferences and exhibitions. Many international conferences and exhibitions related to agriculture are now organized in Nigeria and are largely attended by farmers in Nigeria. Nigeria is considered to be an emerging market by the World Bank; it has been identified as a regional power in international affairs, and has also been identified as an emerging global power. Nigeria’s livestock industry is rapidly growing and attracting international exhibitors probably due to her purchasing power and increasing population of more than 160 million.
On 25th and 26th of April, 2018, Aviana Nigeria International Expo held a mega exhibition and conference on Poultry, Dairy and Aquaculture at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. The exhibition recorded a massive attendance of participants of different profiles ranging from poultry farmers, veterinarians, research professionals, government parastatals, members of poultry and livestock association, exhibitors, and other top dignitaries.
Livestock industry foundation for Africa’s team lead by the President and Founder of the organization, Dr. Stephen Adejoro, was there to connect with farmers and exhibitors so as to learn and document new opportunities, technologies and products showcased at the expo.
The president, Poultry Association of Nigeria; Mr. Ibrahim Ezekiel was present at the expo. He praised the organizer of the programme and also motivated farmers and other agricultural key players to be committed to agriculture. He also identified opportunities in the poultry industry for stakeholders and investors.
LIFA was able to meet with a team of the diamond sponsor of the programme; OLAM Nigeria. Opportunities of possible collaboration with LIFA in disseminating knowledge were discussed. The 2018 Aviana Expo Nigeria was indeed a high-profile event and a platform for agricultural stakeholders to network, connect and showcase products, technologies and professional services with which the Livestock industry can attain a sustainable growth.
