WPSA Regional Workshop: more public awareness to prevent avian influenza

All the government, non-government and research organizations concerned and other stakeholders should come forward and work together to free the poultry sector from further avian influenza infection, said experts at a workshop.
 
They viewed focus should be given on creating awareness among the grassroots people and intensifying inter-departmental coordination to check the influenza to protect this potential sector from any adverse impact as it contributes a lot to meeting the country's nutritional demands.
 
Quiet a large number of people at every nook and corner of the region are directly engaged in poultry farming, making significant contribution to the economic development of Bangladesh.
 
They were addressing the regional workshop titled "Seasonal Hatchery Management and Avian Influenza in Bangladesh and its Controlling Management" held at City Convention Centre in the city.
 
World's Poultry Science Association- Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB) organized the workshop in association with Bangladesh Livestock Society (BLS) and Rajshahi Poultry Association (RPA).
 
In the workshop, more than 300 grassroots poultry farmers, delegation of Department of Livestock Services and other stakeholders from Rajshahi, Naogaon, Natore and Chapainawabganj districts were given modern ideas on how to protect the poultry farms from avian influenza (bird flue) infection.
 
With WPSA President Shamsul Arefin Khaled in the chair, RU Veterinary and Animal Sciences Chairman Dr. KM Mozaffor Hossain, BLS Chief Adviser Prof Dr Khalequzzaman, President Prof Dr Jalal Uddin Sarder and its General Secretary Dr Hemayetul Islm Arif, WPSA General Secretary Sirajul Haque, Senior Vice President Abu Lutfa Fazle Rahim Khan & FTD Sabur, Executive Members of Wpsa Kbd. Mahbub Hossain, District livestock officer Kbd Nizamuddin,
 
ULO, Paba Kbd. Ismail Haque and RPA President Masudul Haque and General Secretary Enamul Haque spoke on the occasion.
