15 born alive on first farrowing!

The Shandong Hypor Liuhe Breeding Farm team are pleased to announce their first farrowing occurred right on schedule on April 10, 2008. The eagerly aniticipated Large White litter numbered 17 born, with 15 born alive, exceeding expectations for a gilt litter.

Farm manager Zhang Wenbo and Wang Xingjun, Farrowing and Nursery Manager in charge of the farrowing and nursery units are impressed with the genetic performance for litter size and viability.

These piglets are the foundation for the future growth of the Hypor-Liuhe Group joint venture in the growing pork production industry in China.

The Shandong Hypor Liuhe Breeding Farm began operations in October 2007, when the farm was populated with 820 purebred Large White, Landrace and Duroc gilts and boars, shipped from Hypor's high-health nucleus farms in Saskatchewan, Canada.

The production start-up had been a huge success with breeding conception rates exceeding expectations. Now as the farrowing rooms start to fill up, the farm moves into full production.
