IPVS 2022 Rio de Janeiro - the first hybrid edition in the history of the event

After 26 editions, this will be the first time the Congress will be held both virtually and on-site, bringing together attendees, businesses and speakers

The IPVS2022 - International Pig Veterinary Society Congress -, the largest technical and scientific congress of the swine industry across the globe, is returning to Brazil after 32 years. It will be held from June 21st to 24th at the Riocentro Convetion and Event Center, in Rio de Janeiro. The theme of this edition is “New perspective for the swine industry: biosecurity, productivity, and innovation". This will be the first hybrid edition in the history of the IPVS.

The hybrid format will make it possible to reach more participants from all corners of the world, and keep attendees informed of the latest information and technologies in swine production.

“Merging the on-line and on-site formats will increase the number of participants, encourage interaction, and increase the reach of scientific information. Thanks to technology, on-line participants will be able to interact with speakers and with sponsors,” said Fernanda Almeida D.V.M and IPVS2022 Chair.

A format that offers many possibilities

Hybrid events widen the reach of on-site events, taking information to more people in different parts of the world. In addition to the on-site edition in Rio de Janeiro, participants will be able to attend the talks and to interact with the sponsosrs in virtual lounges from anywhere in the world.

“The IPVS2022 in Rio de Janeiro will make history. It will be the first hybrid edition, showing that the format is evolving, and that the Congress re-inventing itself due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This will make it possible to bring the latest scientific advances to a larger number of attendants,” said Fernanda.

The IPVS2022 program will include topics such as health, immunology, reproduction, biosecurity, welfare, nutrition, and more. A second positive change brought by this edition is the addition of a pre-Congress on Agribusiness on June 21st.

The IPVS2022 will have the support of the main Brazilian pig production associations, such as the Brazilian Association of Veterinarians Specializing in Swine Production (Abraves), the Swine and Poultry Division of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), the Brazilian Association of Swine Producers (ABCS), and the Brazilian Association of Swine Genetics Companies (ABEGS).
