Feed and oil millers, quality control managers of food products even ordinary farmers will have the rare opportunity to learn the impact of Mycotoxin on their farm produce. Mycotoxin is a toxin which comes from molds on fungi which causes health problems in humans and animals. Aflatoxins is considered by many to be the most potent naturally occurring carcenogen known. Aflatoxin is a by-product of mold growth in a wide range of commodities. Two molds that are major producers of aflatoxin are aspergillus flavus and parasiticus. These fungi can be found virtually everywhere in the world. They are soil borne, but like to grow on high nutrient seeds. Their toxins are produced pre-harvest in the field and post harvest in storage. In both cases damage to insects, mishandling or environmental stress can enable the fungi to invade the seed. Glenwood Technologies International Inc. will conduct a seminar on Mycotoxin on Sept. 9, 2005 from 1:00pm to 6:00pm at the Catleya Function Room, Apo View Hotel this City. Glenwood Technologies International Inc., the leading distributor of Mycotoxin Lab Kits has invited Edna Beginio, Chief, Aflatoxin Laboratory of the Bureau of Animal Industry from Manila to be the resource speaker during the seminar. For more inquiries, you may contact Glenwood Technologies International at Tel. Nos. (02) 7239919 (Manila) or (082) 227-7961 Davao Office.
