11 innovators will present cutting-edge technologies at this year’s virtual Animal AgTech Innovation Summit on October 19-20.
The featured start-ups are tackling a range of livestock, dairy and aquaculture challenges with game-changing technologies including carbon-negative insect feed, novel bioactive peptides, IoT, AI and data analytics, and waste valorised single cell protein.
Renowned globally for its focus on start-ups, innovation and investment, the interactive Animal AgTech Innovation Summit programme aims to accelerate opportunities for innovators as they raise their profile and connect with potential investors and partners among its 350+ global industry decision-makers.
Meet the companies taking the digital stage during the Start-Up Pitching Sessions and showcasing their solutions in the Virtual Exhibition:
AMPLY Discovery (UK) uses a proprietary drug discovery and validation platform to predict novel biological molecules for new anti-infective drugs. Its platform uses machine learning models and AI techniques from the financial markets and applies them to drug discovery. Using this discovery platform, the company intends to focus on finding topical anti-infective treatments focusing on animal health applications.
Better Origin (UK) offers supermarkets and food companies a way to eliminate food waste and achieve net zero. Its product – the Better Origin X1 – is a fully autonomous insect farm that converts waste into feed with the help of insects. Just one unit can save 565 tonnes of CO2 per year. Powered by AI, it takes care of all stages of farming, so the farmer doesn’t have to.
Biotangents (UK) combines machine learning bioinformatics, customisable biology workflows and advanced microfluidics to deliver the next generation of veterinary diagnostics for point of care use. It aims to enhance the sustainability of livestock farming and enable vets and farmers to take rapid action to treat and prevent disease. Biotangents’ technology detects specific nucleic acid (DNA or RNA) sequences characteristic of a given disease, bringing laboratory quality molecular diagnostics to the field in a simple, automated format.
Concept Dairy (UK) is all about price transparency across the dairy supply chain. The free Concept Dairy Farmer App shows farmers how much their milk is worth and can lock in their price for up to two years based on live, accurate market prices, which provide daily updates. Its Commodities Trading Risk Management Platform supports milk processors to understand and manage their risk and add more value to their farmers, and their customers.
EniferBio (Finland) is a biotech start-up developing a unique mycoprotein feed for aquaculture. Its PEKILO® P65 high-protein ingredient is made using renewable raw materials, close to end users. It offers a sustainable alternative to soy protein concentrate, the environmentally damaging current industry standard. And the best part - it costs no more to produce.
Farm Health Guardian (USA) is a proven biosecurity software platform that reduces the risk of disease transfer. By creating a virtual perimeter around a farm property and digitally recording movement of people and vehicles, the system helps livestock and poultry producers protect animal health and welfare while saving time and money.
FarmSee (Israel) utilises computer vision and AI to provide the pig production industry with critical information so far unattainable. Currently, critical KPIs, such as an individual pig’s continuous weight, is unavailable due to animal welfare concerns, biosecurity and labour intensity. Pig producers, who have a clear goal of reaching a specific target weight, are forced to rely on theoretical growth tables instead of their actual data, resulting in significant inefficiencies. FarmSee’s solution provides actionable insights driving significant revenue growth and cost optimisation, while ensuring animal welfare.
Greentech Innovators (Norway) has the slogan to ‘give waste a value’. The company is using biotechnology and fermentation to produce single cell protein and organic fertiliser from food waste. Its solution is reducing greenhouse gas emissions from landfills and increasing protein and omega-3 feed production.
Pondus (UK) is the virtual poultry assistant delivering better visibility to chicken production. Pondus’ technology is a camera-based solution providing 24/7 touchless monitoring, measurement and reporting for poultry production. Its solution is based on machine learning and deep data analytics delivered through plug-and-play hardware. The key benefit is to provide early detection of potential issues, improving bird health, welfare and productivity.
PorkLogic (India) facilitates the end-to-end management of livestock wellness and remote monitoring. By providing wearables for livestock and harnessing deep tech like IoT, AI, advanced machine learning models, and cloud, the company helps to improve swine health management and enhanced farm practices.
Volta Greentech (Sweden) is on a mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate global warming. By providing farmers with an entirely natural seaweed-based feed supplement to drastically reduce the methane emissions produced by dairy cows and beef cattle, Volta Greentech is supporting the agriculture sector in taking a massive leap in going sustainable.
A further start-up will join the showcase after the winner of the Global Aquaculture Challenge final is revealed on October 7, hosted by The Yield Lab. The virtual Animal AgTech Innovation Summit on October 19-20 will bring together 350+ global animal agtech leaders for two high-energy days of 1-1 video meetings, speed networking, live-streamed panel sessions and roundtable discussions.
