Adisseo sponsors the 19th International Conference on Diseases of Fish and Shellfish

The 19th International Conference on Diseases of Fish and Shellfish organised by European Association of Fish Pathologist (EAFP) took place 9 to 12th September in Porto (Portugal), with Adisseo taking Nutriad’s heritage as supporting member and as gold sponsor of the event.

With a long tradition on gathering both research and industry, this event successfully gathered more than 600 attendees from all over the globe. The Alfândega of Oporto was this time the meeting point for industry professionals and experts on aquatic disease, holding workshops and presentations on European projects and on topics of current concern for the worldwide aquaculture.

Adisseo also sponsored the participation of Elissavet Arapi, a PhD student at School of Biosciences of Cardiff University, and who presented part of her PhD project co-funded by Adisseo: “The guppy model: developing functional feed additives against parasites”. This is an innovative and in-house method for the in vivo testing of feed additives in a reliable and reproduceable manner, thus solving the limitations presented by cohabitation studies. Elissavet´s work has involved not only the fine-tuning of the method but also its validation across fish at different stages and from different batches.
