Dear Dr. Banerjee,
we have been working with diformates in common carp at 0.5% inclusion rate.
Main noted results, next to the improved FCR and growth, was the highly improved nitrogen and phosphorus retention. Overall, an increased fish productivity index by more than 10% was noticed... in regular commerical carp diets - as well as in experimental plant-protein diets.

Dear Shihan,
I would assume that your issue is due to vibriosis - those are Gram-negative bacteria; and dietary organic acids, in particular potassium diformate, have demonstrated effects gainst them - which lead to a reduced mortality of the shrimp/prawn. Where are you based? We can then check if the product - based on potassium diformate, is available in your country. Please get in touch with us via info@addcon.com
Thank you!

Christian Lückstädt Hello, Dr. Christian Lückstädt would you kindly comment on the best possible quality/product for AP (amino-peptides) in the market today and what are the ideal doses for tropical shrimp diet/feed additions ? thanks in advance.

Dear Sir,
Amino-peptides are products coming from amino acid monomers. On the other hand, we are working with organic acids and theirs salts. As such I'm not able to comment on the use of AP-products in shrimp culture.

Hello, Dr. Christian Lückstädt. In Mexico and Ecuador, do you have organic acids available for shrimp?

Hola Fernando, si!
But since my Spanish is limited I will continue in English. We are working with potassium diformate since several years already in Ecuador - and have started last year with the product in Mexico; and in both countries we are using it for "camaron". Please get in touch with us via info@addcon.com - and we can direct you to the business partners in the 2 countries.
Muchas gracias!

Dear Shihan,
As mentioned previously in this discussion, your issue is most likely related to Vibrio spp. bacteria, potentially to Vibrio harveyi. In general, you have two options to tackle the disease, via a disinfectant for the water... or via an antimicrobial additive via the feed. If you'd like to do the approach via feed, which will help the shrimp rather than trying to establish a "luminous free pond", ADDCON has long-standing experiences with its potassium diformate containing product. This has demonstrated to drastically reduce the mortality of P. vannamei, which had been challenged with V. harveyi. If you chose the treatment via water, there is a long list of disinfectants available - among them chlorine or iodine.
Hope the answer is helpful,

Hello Dr. Christian
Can we use organic acid (formic acid/potassium diformate) or organic acid mixes to treat water-borne diseases like e-coli, vibriosis etc. If so, what are the organic acids we can use?? Is it safe?
