Thanks for the clear and useful paper about composting. Composting is a very safe method for the disposal of dead chickens, the high temperature produced during the composting process would destroy all viruses, bacteria and parasites. The daily mortalities can also be composted in a rotating barrel that will maintain regular supply of Oxygen to the mixture.
In house composting has been proved as the disposal method of choice in case of catastrophic mortalities in case of infectious disease outbreak.

Disposal of dead poultry birds in heavy mortality has always been a problem.
Composting is the simplest possible method to dispose off the dead birds without a challenge to the environment.

Author must be praised for highlighting composting of daily mortality on farms. This is the simplest tool to convert a waste product into something useful and at the same time spread of disease from farm to farm would also be checked. I believe that in under-developed countries where farm managers usually throw away the daily mortality to be consumed by scavengers and take it as a good deed that they are feeding animals.

Another easy tool is to dig a deep well with a window on top. Throw all the dead birds in the well and close it tightly. When well is near to full, fill is with dirt and plant some tree on the top.
