PERFORMIZER® - optimizing performance in poultry production Poultry production has been improved during the last 50 years due to a number of factors like the improvement of genetic potential for growth and feed efficiency, better adapted diets and management systems. It will always be the main goal in animal production to extract a maximum of performance out of the feed and to reduce production cost. The botanical world offers a wide range of substances that can sustainably optimize livestock performance. In phytogenic feed additives various spices and herbs from different parts of plants (eg. roots, leafes, flowers) containing essential oils are well known for their appetizing effects, but the rather purpose is to improve gut functionality and digestive metabolism. This is where livestock production can be optimized leading to economic advantages. BIOSTRONG is a phytogenic feed additive for poultry which means all ingredients are of plant origin. The main ingredients are essential oils, pungent and bitter substances as well as saponins. Through the synergistic effects of these ingredients optimally combined in BIOSTRONG, improved digestibility, reduced ammonia formation and anti-oxidative effects are achieved. The improved digestibility of protein, Ca and P was proven in numerous scientific trials since 2002. Based on these results matrix values (theoretical nutritional values) for Biostrong were calculated and tested in scientific and commercial trials. The application of these matrix values can save up to 5 EUR / mt of poultry feed while maintaining the birds´ performance. Phytase breaks down indigestible phytate and thereby increases the availability of phytate bound phosphorus. The mode of action of BIOSTRONG is targeting on faster digestion and better retention. For example specific essential oils improve the absorption of glucose through the gut wall, leading to more energy uptake. Thus, the combination of phytase and BIOSTRONG results in a strong synergistic effect, leading to high economical advantages for poultry producers by lower feed cost due to ingredient saving.
