During the recently held European Poultry Conference (EPC) 2014 in Stavanger, Norway, Dr. Christian Lückstädt from Addcon presented a paper on the effect of dietary sodium diformate (NaDF) on growth performance and nutrient utilization in broilers.
In his paper, Dr. Lückstädt talks about a trial conducted at a research farm in Taiwan, where they tested sodium diformate (NaDF; 0.15 % inclusion rate) in a commercial broiler diet, against a control diet containing no acidifier. The effects of NaDF on performance and nutrient utilization were examined after 39 days.
He concluded that performance was enhanced in the birds fed 0.15% NaDF. Treated birds were significantly heavier while the FCR improved only numerically and nutrient utilization was also improved.
