Information

The Australasian Pig Science Association biennial conference is widely recognised as one of the premier international pig science forums.  The hard work and dedication of many people over the years has seen APSA grow from humble beginnings in Albury in 1987 to the international conference that it is today attracting delegates from around the world.

The APSA committee are pleased to announce that the 15th conference of the Australasian Pig Science Association will be held at the Grand Hyatt, Melbourne, Victoria in November 2015.  We hope that you will be able to join us in Melbourne and take advantage of this wonderful location.  The conference program is coming together and will feature both local and international speakers addressing key issues for the pork industry.

The APSA conference proceedings are internationally recognised for their scientific and editorial standard.  There are very few conferences now held where such a high quality proceedings are produced prior to the conference.  I am pleased to advise that the committee have appointed Professor John Pluske and Dr Jo Pluske as editors for the 2015 proceedings, Manipulating Pig Production XV.  I am also very pleased to announce that, for the first time, the conference proceedings will be published in full as a Special Issue of Animal Production Science.  This move to publication in a journal will provide greater exposure for APSA and ensure our authors are more widely recognised for their outstanding scientific contributions.

The contribution of sponsors is critical for the success of the APSA biennial conference.  I would like to acknowledge Australian Pork Limited and the Pork CRC for High Integrity Australian Pork for their generous support of APSA once again as Principle Sponsors.  I would also like to thank all of our sponsors that have made a commitment to the 2015 conference - we truly appreciate your support.  For a full list of current sponsors or to view the sponsorship prospectus please visit the sponsor’s page on this website.

I would like to thank the current committee for their hard work to date and look forward to the year ahead.  Submissions are now open for extended abstracts (previously referred to as one page papers) and the 2015 APSA International Travel Scholarship.  Please also keep an eye out for shout outs over the coming months for further information regarding the program and registrations.

Dr Cherie Collins, President
