"You cannot improve what you do not control. You cannot control what you do not measure. You cannot measure what you do not define". (anonymous) It is very difficult to know where to begin a discussion about feed mill efficiency. Perhaps a good place to start would be a definition of efficiency. The Encarta Dictionary: English (North America) defines efficiency as 1. Competence, the ability ...

Dr. Koch,

It´s a wonderful presentation on feed milling efficiency. It is a fact that one has to take regular and systematic care and control from the time:

1.raw matreial arrives
2.unloaded
3.proper sampling done
4.physical and chemical examination of raw amterial done
5 .raw material stored as per plan in silo/or otherwise
6.entire procees control from intake--batching-grinding-coarseness-mixing-premixing-conditioning and pelleting and finally material reaches to farm level
7.formulation--specification-performance in short feed milling has main aspectes of managing materials, machine, men and money. After all, one has to produce consistancy every hr,every day ,every week and every month and every year.

Dear Dr Karim Jackson
The pelleting temp for dairy pellet depends on what size of die you use
10 mm die-------60-65 deg c
8 mm die---------70 deg c
6 mm die---------75-80 deg c
Maintain conditioning temp at optimum level before pelleting.
