In addition to Diamond V, the U.S. state of Iowa is the home of the World Food Prize, which was conceived by Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, recipient of the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize. For nearly 30 years, the World Food Prize has honored outstanding people from around the world who have made vital contributions to improving the quality, quantity, or availability of food.

Each October, often at the peak of the harvest time in Iowa, the organizers announce the World Food Prize Laureate and host the Borlaug Dialogue international symposium, which brings the world's foremost experts together to discuss food security and includes youth education programs focused on agriculture. Diamond V and other leading international agricultural businesses contribute as sponsors.
The winner of The Prize this year is Sir Fazle Hasan Abed from Bangladesh, the founder and chairperson of BRAC, one of the world’s largest non-governmental organizations. BRAC has helped nearly 150 million people worldwide to improve their lives, benefit from enhanced food security, and follow a pathway out of poverty.

“At a time when the world confronts the great challenge of feeding over nine billion people,” said World Food Prize President, Ambassador Kenneth M. Quinn at the State Capitol in Des Moines, “Sir Fazle Abed and BRAC… have created the preeminent model being followed around the globe on how to educate girls, empower women and lift whole generations out of poverty. For this monumental Oct - 15 Diamond V 3 achievement, Sir Fazle truly deserves recognition as the 2015 World Food Prize Laureate.”
