The November 9 preconference, Advances in Animal Health and Immunity, sponsored by Arm & Hammer Animal Nutrition, will feature talks on transition cows, nutritional impacts on immunity, and the use of yeast-derived carbohydrates. Lecture topics in the general session on November 10 will include a dairy market outlook from Mary Keough Ledman and discussions of feeding cows to optimize production of components. Breakout sessions will explore these subjects and more; a wide variety of topics from fatty acid nutrition to undigested NDF, monitoring income over feed costs, amino acids, dairy facilities, estrus synchronization and timed insemination, dietary cation-anion balance for various stages of lactation, colostrum, forage quality in grazing systems, and much more. Kemin will sponsor a Wednesday evening session focusing on the value and variability of blood meal. On Thursday, we will offer two options for a breakfast session. The first, sponsored by Diamond V, will explore the technology behind NutriTek, and the second, sponsored by Multimin USA, will address the effect of trace minerals on acquired immunity. The post conference sponsored by Mycogen Seeds will focus on the role of forage in optimum performance of dairy cows.
Certification exams for ARPAS will be offered, and the conference is approved for continuing education credits for ARPAS members and veterinarians. In addition, ARPAS members are invited to participate in two special, members-only sessions: lunch on Wednesday and a workshop on Thursday with presentations by Rich Erdman.

This year we are partnering with USDA-NRCS to offer certification training for Feed Management Planners. If you are interested in obtaining certification as a Feed Management Planner, join us Tuesday, November 8, from 1 to 5 PM, to learn about the purpose and procedures of feed management plans. The certification exam will be offered after the workshop.
