Dear Dr. Pandiarajan,
Yes, we have experienced improved digestibility as well as gut health (thus lower mortality) during grow-out and larval phases in shrimp and different fish species. Recommended dosages may vary from 0.2 to 0.5%, with the higher doses in the larval stages.

18/01/2017 | Sir, can we mix the KDF whith feed (which is already made). is it ok if we spray the KDF mixing with pure water onto the feed prior to feed in to the pond?

Re: Use of Organic Acids in Aquaculture. Dr. Christian Lückstädt (Addcon)
18/01/2017 | Dear Mr. Rao,
KDF is specifically made as a crystalline product, in order to achieve the double salt (therefore diformate) structure. If you mix KDF with water directly, the product will break into formic acid and potassium formate, which will have a limited effect only. KDF needs therefore to be mixed with the feed during production. A spraying afterwards is not recommended, it could lead furthermore to leaching of the product into the pond water.

19/01/2017 | Dear Dr.Luckstadt:

Can we mix potassium diformate with the shrimp feed using a binder and dry it for 30 min before application into the ponds? Will it still leach if we mix it with a binder and dry it before application.

Thank you.

19/01/2017 | Dear Kuma,
you can and you shall mix potassium diformate into the feed when it is produced. Can you please explain your process of feed production? Shrimp feed from a feed mill doesnt need to be dried further. I take it therefore that you produce your own feed. Please explain, and I will let you know whether potassium diformate can still be used in your process. Thank you!

19/01/2017 | Dr.Christian,

Thank you very much for your reply. Here I would like to check with small quantity only for which I cannot right now go to any feed manufacturer. The trail is for my own culture. Could you please suggest any alternative so as to mix this KDF directly to go along with the already made pellets. Or should I go by a suitable binder and followed by short time for natural drying?please suggest..

19/01/2017 | Dear Mr. Rao,
are you able to grind the pellets and re-pelletize? If so you could mix the KDF yourself into the feed. An addtional binder may help there.
